I haven’t bought any vinyl for a long time due to no work / no money issue but last week I was looking through some random shit in “punk” section in one of the 2nd hand stores and found this SNIPERS 7″ on CRASS RECORDS.

Never heard that band before although I did recall hearing of them. EP had this cool, anarchopunk style scheme on the back of the sleeve with how religions affect your daily life and for fucks sake it was on CRASS RECORDS, and except for Honey Bane, they havent released a bad record I knew of so, I thought I’d give it a go. Little did I know I was in for a treat.

The A-SIDE song should be played on constant repeat to the prisoners in Guantanamo Bay istead of those high pitched noises they have there now. I bet most of them would break in minutes and the rest would just rip their ears off and eat them. I don’t even know how to reasonably describe that song. 2 songs on side B sound like 2 tea spoons of CRASS diluted with 3 glasses of toilet water and topped with a bucket of vomit. ACE.
I also picked up the “Unavoidable” Killing Time EP for around $3.

Never heard it before since after the embarassing “Happy Hour” EP I totally lost interest in that band but I heard that it was much better than the “HH” so I run the risk and bought it. I fuckin love to death the Raw Deal demos and even the Brightside LP so I was really hoping this “much better” will really turn out to be “much better”. It’s true, it is better. NOT much better though, slightly better. It’s harder and the annoying fucking “ding-dongs” are gone but that song “Can’t Get Around It” sounds almost identical to the “Whole Lotta Nuthin” (I actually made a mistake and listened to the Happy Hour record prior to the Unavoidable) or maybe I was still deafen by the A-SIDE of the SNIPERS 7″… fuck knows.. Anyway, whats the difference if dude tells me 4 times in a row that theres a whole lotta nuthing or that he cant get around it. Same shit. All in all Killing Time recieves an award for The UNAVOIDABLE RUBBISH. The ULTIMATE unavoidable rubbish to be exact.
Havent heard this many horrible tunes since… don’t even know since when. Probably since I listened to the new RJ record haha.
It took a whole KINGPIN ep, 3 listens to the KRAKDOWN 7″ and about 10 rounds of Chunks to make me fully operational again.
Coca-Cola, we don’t need no booze, NO WAY!

Hey man..love your blog. Do you have a bio or story somewhere about yourself I can read? What do you do over in Japan? You play in a band? My band played there in 96 and 98 and I really want to go back soon.
You’re into NY hardcore? You’d like my bands I play in, i’m sure. I love NYHC and other heavy stuff. We need to chat sometime bro.
Yeah all that stuff after Brightside totally sucks. Lots of people like it but I say they lost it after that record. They did a few reunion shows here in the last year which were pretty good but they really only ever had their Raw Deal stuff and that one LP.
Peace
