Some London flashbacks.. I went to the Imperial War Museum quite many times to look at all the cool nazi stuff and Japanese fighter pilot gear. One time, in Summer 04 I went there with my friends, Leszek and Asia

and my two sisters

It was fun..
The entrance to the museum is guarded by these two battle ship cannons

As soon as you enter the bulding, first thing that you notice are various fighter planes hanging off the ceiling

Most notable is the SPITFIRE of course. Check out those cool eliptical wings. The BF109 wings were much smaller and weaker making the aircraft more difficult to manouvre. It was a bit of a trick to land and take off the Spitfire (and so was the BF109) but in the air it was a superiour machine to the BF109. In my opinion though it would still loose to the A6M ZERO

they even had the Spitfire engine down in the basement. It was made by Rolls-Royce but it wasnt a very good one. It was definitely Spitfire’s Achilles heel. As much as the Spit was easy to handle and manouvre, once in the air, everytime you’d try and do one of those steep forward dives (the negative G dives) the engine would cut out and the plane would just fall down for a bit making in vulnerable and easy to shoot down during the dog fight.

Unfortunately they didn’t have any BF109s in there. They had one FOCKEWULF

one of those first Messerschmitt jet powered prototypes

and I think this was the wreck of the 110 plane that Hess flown over to the UK but I might be wrong:

Tail with stencils of shot down Spitfires

1st WW aircraft

As far as the airplanes they also had the Kamikaze pilot uniform and the cockpit of ZERO SEN. You can see the whole plane here

Tanks:
British Mark 4, the 1st WW tank. This one’s called DEVIL. Sweet..

2WW:
American Sherman. Next to the Soviet T-34 the most produced tank of the 2nd WW. Not nearly as cool as the Russian one though. Probably the shittest tank of the war. All US produced equipment was rubbish in the 40s actually. Only after the war they started developing cool shit.

German Panther. I would love to see the Tiger tanks, both of them. Even though I would still say that in the Central to Eastern Europe grounds, where most of these were tested I would rather operate the Russian T-34 than any of the German made tanks. Especially in the woods, mountains or swamps the Soviet tank was superior to anything else made at that time.

Russian T-34 and my sister. Very similar destroying abilities. My sister once ripped off a radiator off the concrete wall (an accident). Something very T-34 like haha

The whole museum was basically packed with shit to do with killing people, inflicting pain and suffering. Too much to post and talk about. Here’s some randomness:
Dudes in the trenches. They even had that horrible smell going there that was supposed to be the trench smell, kinda like a mix of shit, sweat, petrol and burnt oil and the air was kinda musty.

One dude torpedo submarine. Cool as shit.

Russian anti aircraft cannon used in the Falklands

Some older stuff:

Tommy Gun

Notice the white “gun” on the righ. It was made out of the hospital bed (I remember the description). Used in recent war in Yugoslavia.

Probably the coolest non-nazi item in the museum: 1943 Willys
I’d love to have one of these. Simple and unbreakable.

Poster from just few years ago when South Afrika was still like the USA in 60s

And finally all the NAZI stuff..

Iron Cross 1st Class

German army uniforms were most definitely the coolest of all in 2nd WW..

Afrika Corps dude:

SS officer’s dagger and hat

and to end this long rambling, poster of the boss:

i grew up in england and was so into this shit when i was younger, never went to the war museum but my grandad worked in the airforce and organized me to ride in a chieftan tank (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chieftain_tank)! muddy as fuck but so good haha.
That’s a Jagdpanzer tank destroyer, not a “Panther” tank… :) I’m a war/tank nerd. Tank destroyers didn’t have rotating turrents. That thing could take out anything on the battlefield, your goal was to sneak up on it from the side.
JAWOHL! my mistake!
[...] a whole lot of other cool shit. The best war museums I’ve been to, like the one in Korea or London and even the one at the D-Day beach in France still didn’t have the impact this museum did, [...]
