Most definitely my favourite straight edge 7EP. Yes, I like it better than Minor Threat records. I can’t say anything that hasn’t already been said about this EP before so I’ll just cut to the chase. I finally had a free moment so I sat down and ripped all of the different versions/mixes, whatever I found at home. No editing, no noise removal and no bullshit. Just straight up crude vinyl rip with clicks, pops and all that. You can draw your own comparisons but in my opinion the 1st SCHISM press sounds the best. Now you can listen to the 1st version of what this originally sounded like without having to spend $80 for the 1st press on eBay.

Here’s what Porcell had to say about making the record:
I kinda like New York Crew because it was so weird. Me and Mike got together to do that record and literally practised like two or three times. You know, Mike plays drums and played with us in YOT so when we practised, he’d play drums and I’d do guitar. That’s how we wrote songs. So I had no idea of how he would sound if he sang. I never heard him sing before. So we finished all the music and that sounded really cool. Then Mike just stepped up to the vocal booth and I was like “˜Well, this is gonna be really interesting”. He sang like Fed Up in the first take and it was so pissed and powerful”, incredible. My mouth was like open, I couldn’t believe how good it was.

This one is very interesting. I think this one was made when they remixed the record and were making all new pressing with ARE / OLD SMOKE matrix and 33 RPM speed. I can only guess that somehow the plates at the pressing plant got mixed up and a number of 7″s got pressed with A side of a new mix, the “ARE” matrix and 33RPM speed and B side with WE MISS KELLOGGS SCHISM matrix and 45RPM speed. The one I have came with glossy heavy card sleeve and black and white insert.
Matrix: ARE 33RPM / WE MISS KELLOGS 45RPM
There had to be another set of tests made for the ARE… OLD SMOKE version, too.

Well, i have the revelation 3rd press right now….Thanks for the information
You mean the one with purple sleeve?
I was pretty much just guessing the info there. I pretty much assumed that they made matching yellow cover/yellow insert for the 2nd press like they made matching orange/orange for the 1st one. I remembered the the purple insert was done earlier than the white one which would possibly make it the 3rd press and I asked Jordan about it but he doesn’t remember which one came first so it’s pretty much a guessing game here.
